How should I take Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole)?
|
How much medicine you use and how often you use it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated, your age, and weight. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole) you are using, talk with your health care provider. Carefully read the information provided with Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole) and reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Use Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole) exactly as directed by your health care professional. Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole) is for external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. Cleanse skin with soap and water. Dry completely. Apply a thin layer over the affected area morning and evening or as directed by your doctor. For athlete's foot, pay special attention to spaces between the toes. Wear well-fitting, ventilated shoes and change shoes and socks at least once daily. Do not use in children under 2 years of age without consulting a physician. If irritation occurs or if symptoms do not improve within the recommended number of days, discontinue use and consult your doctor or pharmacist. Continue use until a full course of therapy has been taken. Failure to take all of Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole) may prevent complete elimination of the bacteria, allowing the infection to return. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole). Do not stop using Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole) without checking with your doctor. Do not use more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. Contact your health care provider at once if you feel you have used too much of Canesten Topical Cream (clotrimazole). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations or dietary supplements. If a dose is missed, use it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
