Before using Coreg (carvedilol), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure, kidney function impairment, liver function impairment or respiratory problems |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Coreg (carvedilol)?

Use caution while driving or performing other hazardous activities. Coreg (carvedilol) may cause drowsiness, dizziness, and blood pressure changes. Rise slowly from a sitting or lying position. If you become dizzy, remain sitting or lying down. |
What are the side effects of Coreg (carvedilol)?
|
|
Most severe: Allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; hives), wheezing or shortness of breath, an unusually slow or irregular heart beat
|
|
Most common: Sudden weight gain (more than 2 pounds in one day or 5 pounds in one week), chest (heart) pain, swelling of the feet and lower legs, unusually cold or blue hands or feet.

Other: Headache, fatigue, or dizziness, weak pulse or a mildly slow heart rate, diarrhea or abdominal pain, insomnia, dryness of the eyes

How should I take Coreg (carvedilol)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Coreg (carvedilol) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Coreg (carvedilol) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Coreg (carvedilol). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist. taken two hours before or six hours after taking these products. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take Coreg (carvedilol) more often than directed. Finish the full course prescribed by your prescriber or health care professional even if you think your condition is better. Do not stop taking except on your prescriber's advice.
