What is Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) used for? |
Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) is used in women with an intact uterus to treat moderate to severe hot flashes with menopause, to treat a decrease in the size of the vulva and vagina, and to prevent osteoporosis (brittle bones) in women past menopause.

When should Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) not be taken?
|
Do not take Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) you are or suspect that you are pregnant you have, suspect that you have, or have a history of breast cancer caused by estrogen use you have or suspect you have other cancers caused by estrogen use (such as endometrial cancer) you have blood clotting or bleeding problems, including a history of stroke you have liver problems or liver disease. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) ?

Before using Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth)?

Visit your health care provider for regular checks on your progress while using Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth). You should have a complete check-up every 6 to 12 months. If you have any unusual vaginal bleeding contact your doctor or health care provider for advice. |
What are the side effects of Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth)?
|

Most severe: Chest pain, coughing up blood, leg, arm or groin pain, sudden headaches, weakness or numbness in the arms or legs, especially on one side of the body, swelling of the hands, feet or ankles, or rapid weight gain, vision or speech problems.
|
|
Most common: Breast pain or tenderness; headache; back pain; sleeplessness; postmenopausal bleeding; injury; nausea; stomach irritation; weight increase.
|

Other: Abnormal bleeding; fluid retention; intolerance to contact lenses.
|
How should I take Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Take Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) once daily. Stop taking Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) at once and talk with your doctor if you experience any vaginal bleeding or blood-clotting problems, vision problems, or migraine. You should be instructed how to give yourself a breast self-examination. Women over 40 years of age should have regular breast exams. Diabetic patients - Lab tests will be required to monitor therapy. Be sure to keep appointments. Do not stop taking Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Fem HRT (ethin estrad/noreth). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
