Stools often become dark green or black when using Fer In Sol (iron). This is harmless. However, in the rare instance that stools have a sticky consistency and/or red streaks (signs of blood) along with cramping, soreness, and sharp pains in the stomach, contact your health professional immediately. |

Most severe: Abdominal or stomach pain, continuing cramping or soreness, chest or throat pain when swallowing, black tarry stools with signs of blood

Most common: Constipation or diarrhea, leg cramps, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, dark colored urine, discoloration of teeth

How should I take Fer In Sol (iron)?

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Fer In Sol (iron) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Fer In Sol (iron) if for external use only. Do not stop using Fer In Sol (iron) without checking with your health care provider. Do not take more medication than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Fer In Sol (iron). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.
