Infumorph (not available in Canada) is used to treat severe pain. It may be used before surgery to sedate the patient and reduce fear, to make insertion of a breathing tube easier, and reduce the need for high doses of anesthesia. It may also be used to control pain after surgery.

Do not take Infumorph (not available in Canada) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Infumorph (not available in Canada) or to similar medicines you have severe asthma or other breathing problems you have convulsive disorders you have had heart failure caused by lung disease you have irregular heart rhythms you have increased pressure within the head or neck or other head injuries you have a brain tumor you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol you are in acute acute withdrawal from alcohol or other narcotics you have any other medical condition

Before using Infumorph (not available in Canada), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking any other prescription medicine, nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplements if you have heart problems, including a fast heartbeat if you have liver or kidney problems if you have lung disease if you have thyroid problems if you have Addison's disease if you have hardening of the arteries if you have difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate or other conditions if you regularly consume large amounts of alcohol if you are suffering acute withdrawal from alcohol or other narcotics if you have a history of convulsive disorders if you have experienced bizarre behavior due to use of alcohol or other narcotics if you have increased pressure within the head or other head injury if you have severe low blood pressure if you have recently had gastrointestinal or urinary tract surgery if you have ulcerative colitis if you have any other medical condition

Other:  Exaggerated sense of well-being; restless mood; delirium; weakness; headache; pinpoint pupils; sleeplessness; agitation; tremor; uncoordinated muscle movements; physical and mental impairment; clouding; lack of energy; anxiety; fear; mood swings; disorientation; confusion; changes in vision; dry mouth; loss of appetite; flushing of the face; faintness; fainting; urinary problems; changes in sex drive; hives; rash; swelling; itching. Infumorph (not available in Canada) may be habit-forming. Withdrawal from Infumorph (not available in Canada) should be gradual.

How much medicine you are given and how often it is given depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Infumorph (not available in Canada) you are given, talk with your health care provider. Infumorph (not available in Canada) will be prepared and administered by your health care provider. Infumorph (not available in Canada) may cause nausea, vomiting, or constipation. Constipation may be avoided by using a stool softener or fiber laxative. Infumorph (not available in Canada) may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Avoid drinking alcohol or taking other medicines that cause drowsiness (sedatives, tranquilizers) while using Infumorph (not available in Canada). Some of these products contain a sulfite preservative that may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. Consult your doctor or pharmacist. Do not take any over-the-counter or prescription medications or dietary supplements without talking with your health care provider. Patients with other medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Infumorph (not available in Canada).

Store Infumorph (not available in Canada) at controlled room temperature (between 59 and 86 degrees F). Protect from light.
