Infumorph (not available in Canada) is used to treat severe pain. It may be used before surgery to sedate the patient and reduce fear, to make insertion of a breathing tube easier, and reduce the need for high doses of anesthesia. It may also be used to control pain after surgery.

Most severe: Difficulty breathing; shock; sudden chest pain; hallucinations; bizarre behavior; changes in heartbeat; pounding in the chest; bleeding hives; swelling of the face or throat.

Most common: Lightheadedness; dizziness; drowsiness; nausea; vomiting; sweating; constipation.

Other: Exaggerated sense of well-being; restless mood; delirium; weakness; headache; pinpoint pupils; sleeplessness; agitation; tremor; uncoordinated muscle movements; physical and mental impairment; clouding; lack of energy; anxiety; fear; mood swings; disorientation; confusion; changes in vision; dry mouth; loss of appetite; flushing of the face; faintness; fainting; urinary problems; changes in sex drive; hives; rash; swelling; itching. Infumorph (not available in Canada) may be habit-forming. Withdrawal from Infumorph (not available in Canada) should be gradual.
