How much medicine you take and how often you take it depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Avoid spraying Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) into your eyes. Take Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) as directed by your health care provider. Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) is not for the treatment of an existing asthma attack. Start when an asthma attack is under control and you can breathe well. Before using Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) for the first time, or if has not been used for a while, press the canister one time. It is important that you press the canister at exactly the same time as you breathe in. It may be necessary to practice. Make sure the canister is properly inserted into the inhaler unit. Take the cover off of the mouthpiece and gently shake the inhaler. If the mouthpiece cover is not present, inspect the Inhaler for foreign objects. Hold the Inhaler and breathe out slowly and fully, breathing out as much air as possible. Do not exhale into the inhaler. This could clog the valve. While breathing in deeply and slowly through the mouth, fully depress the top of the metal canister with your index finger. Place the mouthpiece into your mouth, close your lips around it, and tilt your head back. Keep your tongue below the opening of the Inhaler. Remove the inhaler from your mouth. Hold your breath for several seconds and then breathe out slowly, allowing the medication to spread throughout your lungs. Repeat the entire process. When the dose is delivered, you will see a fine white mist. If the mist is escaping from your mouth or nose, then you are not using the inhaler correctly. Keep the cap on Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) when it is not being used to prevent debris from getting into it. Do not use the canister with other mouthpieces. You may clean the inhaler by removing the metal canister and rinsing the plastic mouthpiece in warm water twice a week. Never put the canister completely under water. Throw the canister away after you have used the labeled number of inhalations. To prevent exercise-induced asthma, take a daily dose within 10 minutes to 1 hour before beginning exercise. Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate) may cause drowsiness. Use caution while driving or performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical dexterity. Contact your health care provider immediately if you experience breathing problems after inhaling Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate). Do not stop treatment or change the dose without consulting your health care provider. Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider. If allergic rhinitis is seasonal, continue treatment through the season. If the allergic rhinitis is year round, continuous use may be necessary. Use may decrease or eliminate the need for antihistamines or decongestants. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Intal Inhaler (sodium cromoglycate). Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medicines without talking with your doctor. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor. If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
