What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate)?

Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) may make you dizzy. Do not drive, use machinery, or do anything that needs mental alertness until you know how Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) affects you. To reduce the risk of dizzy or fainting spells, do not sit or stand up quickly, especially if you are an older patient. Alcohol can make you more dizzy, and increase flushing and rapid heartbeats. Avoid alcoholic drinks. |
What are the side effects of Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate)?

Most severe: Bluish discoloration of lips, fingernails, or palms of hands, dizziness or fainting, dry mouth, irregular heartbeat, palpitations, low blood pressure, skin rash, sweating, the feeling of extreme pressure in the head, unusual tiredness or weakness

Most common: Flushing of the face or neck, headache, nausea, vomiting.

How should I take Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Isordil (isosorbide dinitrate) at room temperature, approximately 77 degrees F. Protect from light. Keep container tightly closed. Throw away any unused medicine after the expiration date. |
