What is Lupron (leuprolide acetate) used for? |
Lupron (leuprolide acetate) is used in children in the treatment of children with central precocious puberty.

Do not take Lupron (leuprolide acetate) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Lupron (leuprolide acetate) or to similar medications. |
What precautions should I follow when taking Lupron (leuprolide acetate) ?

Before using Lupron (leuprolide acetate), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are taking any other prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition like heart disease, lung disease, impairment of kidney or liver functions. |
What special warning(s) should I be aware of when taking Lupron (leuprolide acetate)?

Since the product does not contain a preservative, the suspension should be discarded if not used immediately. As with other drugs administered by injection, the injection site should be varied periodically. |
What are the side effects of Lupron (leuprolide acetate)?

Most severe: Body odor, fever, headache, infection, nausea, vomiting, nervousness, weight gain
|
|
Most common: Anxiety, appetite changes, breast tenderness or pain, depression, fluid retention, development of male characteristics, dizziness, general pain, inflammation of the vagina (vaginitis), insomnia or other sleep disorders, joint pain, memory problems, nausea and vomiting, nervousness, skin reactions, stomach or intestinal disorders, unusual burning or prickling sensation of the skin, weakness, weight gain or loss (Men) Breathing problems, dizziness/vertigo, fluid retention, headache, hot flashes, impotence, sleep disorders, joint disorders, nausea, pain, skin reaction, stomach and intestinal disorder, sweats, testicle shrinking, urinary problems, vomiting, weakness

Other: Fainting spells, difficulty swallowing

How should I take Lupron (leuprolide acetate)?
|
How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Lupron (leuprolide acetate) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Lupron (leuprolide acetate) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Lupron (leuprolide acetate). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Lupron (leuprolide acetate) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets. |
