Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) is a contraceptive and is used to prevent pregnancy.

Do not take Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) if you are allergic to any ingredient in Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) or to similar medications.

Before using Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate), tell your health care provider about any of the following: if you are pregnant, plan on becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding if you are taking or planning to take any prescription or nonprescription medicine if you have any other medical condition if you have high blood pressure if you have blood clots, blood sugar problems, like diabetes, cancer of the breast, cervix, ovary, uterus, vagina, or unusual vaginal bleeding that has not been evaluated by a health care professional, depression, fibroids, gallbladder disease, heart or circulation problems, high blood pressure, jaundice, liver disease, menstrual problems, migraine headaches, tobacco smoker, stroke

Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) can increase your sensitivity to the sun and you may burn more easily. Use sunscreen and protective clothing during long periods outdoors. Tanning booths should be used with caution. If you wear contact lenses and notice visual changes while using Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate), or if the lenses begin to feel uncomfortable, consult your eye care specialist.

Other: Breakthrough bleeding and spotting that continues beyond the 3 initial cycles of pills, breast tenderness, mild stomach upset, mood changes, anxiety, depression, frustration, anger, or emotional outbursts, increased or decreased appetite, increased sensitivity to sun or ultraviolet light, nausea, skin rash, acne, or brown spots on the skin, tiredness, weight gain

How much medicine you take and how often you take it depend on many factors, including the condition being treated and the age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount and/or frequency of Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) you are taking, talk with your health care provider. Do not stop taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) without checking with your health care provider. Patients with previous medical conditions should talk with their health care provider before taking Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate). Do not take more medicine than prescribed unless advised to do so by your health care provider. Do not take any other over-the-counter or prescription medications without talking with your health care provider. If a dose is missed, take it as soon as possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your health care provider. If more than one dose is missed, contact your health care provider or pharmacist.

Store Ortho Tri Cyclen Birth Control (ethinyl estradiol/norgestimate) at room temperature in a cool dry place, protect from heat and light. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children and pets.
