Description
Indications
Ciclesonide nasal spray is employed for alleviating the symptoms associated with seasonal (occurring at specific times of the year) and perennial (occurring throughout the year) allergic rhinitis. These symptoms encompass sneezing, as well as a congested, runny, or itchy nose. Ciclesonide belongs to a class of medications known as corticosteroids, acting to prevent and reduce inflammation in the nasal passages.
Uses and Dosage
Ciclesonide is available as a liquid solution for nasal spray administration. Typically, it is sprayed into each nostril once daily at approximately the same time.
Use ciclesonide exactly as directed; do not exceed or reduce the dosage, and avoid using it more frequently than prescribed by your doctor.
Ciclesonide nasal spray is intended for nasal use only. Refrain from swallowing the nasal spray, and exercise caution to prevent spraying it into your eyes or directly onto the nasal septum (the wall between the two nostrils).
While ciclesonide effectively manages rhinitis symptoms, it does not cure the condition. Improvement in symptoms may take at least 24-48 hours after the initial dose, and it might be longer before experiencing the full benefits of ciclesonide.
Continue using the medication even if you feel well, and do not discontinue it without consulting your doctor.
Each bottle of ciclesonide nasal spray is designed to deliver 120 sprays after the initial priming. Dispose of the bottle after 4 months of use. Count the 4 months from the date the bottle is removed from the foil pouch, and note it on the provided sticker in the carton. Place the sticker on the bottle as a reminder. Keep track of the number of sprays used and dispose of the bottle after reaching 120 sprays, even if there is still some liquid remaining and it is before the 4 months have elapsed.
To administer the nasal spray follow these instructions:
- Remove the protective cap before using the spray.
- Close one nostril by pressing it with your finger.
- Tilt your head as directed and carefully insert the nasal applicator into the other nostril.
- Press down firmly on the device to administer the prescribed number of sprays. Avoid spraying directly onto the middle wall of your nose (nasal septum).
- Breathe in gently through your nose and out through your mouth.
- Repeat the process in the other nostril.
- Replace the cap on the nasal inhaler.
- Refrain from blowing your nose for 15 minutes after using this medication.
