Description
Indications
Trifarotene is indicated for the treatment of acne. It possesses the ability to reduce the quantity and severity of acne lesions, whilst accelerating the healing process of the ones that do emerge. Classified as a member of the retinoid medication class, trifarotene operates by modulating cellular growth whilst simultaneously reducing inflammation and edema.
Uses and Dosage
Trifarotene cream is intended for topical application and is typically administered once daily at bedtime. The instructions on the prescription label should be followed meticulously. Adherence to the prescribed dosage is imperative, and neither more nor less than the prescribed amount should be applied.
Trifarotene cream is intended for use exclusively on the face (forehead, nose, cheeks, chin) or upper trunk (upper back, chest, and shoulders). Avoid contact with the eyes, ears, mouth, corners along the nose, or vaginal area. The cream should not be applied to areas with cuts, abrasions, sunburns, or eczema.
Trifarotene cream is dispensed in a pump bottle, with accompanying instructions for proper use. Before application, the affected skin should be gently cleaned and thoroughly dried. The cream should then be applied thinly to the affected skin on the face, chest, shoulders, or back. If there are any uncertainties about the proper application, the doctor or pharmacist should be consulted.
Trifarotene cream should not be used concurrently with nonmedicated or medicated cosmetics, abrasive products, or cleansers containing alcohol.
During the initial four weeks of treatment, the skin may become dry or irritated. If the skin stings, burns, or becomes irritated at any point during the treatment, medical advice should be sought. The prescribing doctor may recommend the use of a moisturizer to alleviate dryness or suggest that the cream is applied less frequently.
Side Effects
Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention:
- burning
- dryness
- loss of skin pigment
- peeling
- skin redness
- stinging
