Description

Indications

Pramoxine is utilized for the temporary alleviation of itching and pain resulting from minor skin irritations such as minor burns, cuts, scrapes, sunburn, eczema, insect bites, cold sores, or rashes caused by poison ivy, poison oak, or poison sumac. Some pramoxine-containing products are also employed to temporarily relieve itching and discomfort associated with hemorrhoids and certain other conditions affecting the genital or anal area. Pramoxine belongs to the class of drugs known as local anesthetics. Its mechanism involves numbing the skin to suppress sensations of pain and itching. This product also includes calamine, a skin protectant.

Uses and Dosage

This medication is intended for skin use only and should be applied according to your doctor’s instructions. Avoid application on severely broken skin areas such as open wounds, deep cuts, or serious burns. If you are self-treating, adhere to all directions provided on the product package.

Before application, gently cleanse and dry the affected area. If you are using a lotion, spray, or foam product, ensure to shake the container well before use as directed on the label. For skin irritation, typically apply to the affected area up to 3 to 4 times daily or as directed by your doctor. In the case of hemorrhoids or other anal conditions, apply the medication to the affected area usually after each bowel movement or up to 4 to 5 times daily, or as instructed by your doctor. Avoid using this medication inside the rectum. Spray the foam onto a clean tissue and apply to the affected area.

After use, wash your hands immediately, unless the treated area includes the hands.

Avoid using this product on large areas of the body or more frequently than directed. Refrain from covering the area with waterproof bandages, plastic, or applying heat unless specifically instructed by your doctor. Doing so will not expedite the improvement of your condition and may increase the risk of side effects.

Ensure the product does not come into contact with your eyes, nose, ears, or mouth. If contact occurs, promptly wipe off and rinse with water.

Discontinue use of this product and inform your doctor if your condition worsens, if symptoms fail to improve within 7 days or persist beyond 7 days of treatment, or if symptoms recur after initial improvement within a few days. If you suspect a serious medical issue, seek immediate medical assistance.
