Indications
Oxaprozin is indicated for the alleviation of pain, tenderness, swelling, and stiffness associated with osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. It is additionally employed to relieve similar symptoms in children aged 6 years and older with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. Oxaprozin belongs to a category of pharmaceuticals known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), which function by inhibiting the body’s synthesis of a pain, fever, and inflammation-inducing substance.
Uses and Dosage
Follow your doctor’s instructions when taking this medication orally, usually once a day. Consume a full glass of water (8 ounces/240 milliliters) with the medication, unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. To avoid any discomfort, do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking the drug. In the event of stomach upset, take the medication with food, milk, or an antacid.
The dosage of this medication is determined by your medical condition, body weight, and response to treatment. The manufacturer recommends that adults should not exceed a daily dose of 1,800 milligrams or 26 milligrams per kilogram of body weight, whichever is lower.
